120 film developing by mail

120 film developing is becoming harder to find through local labs, which is why mail in processing has become the standard option for medium format shooters. We process 120 roll film in both Color C41 and Black and White, covering the full range of medium format sizes including 6x4.5, 6x6, 6x7, and 6x8. Whether you're shooting a Hasselblad, Mamiya, Pentax 67, or any other medium format camera, our lab handles your 120 film with the same chemistry control used across every format we offer.

Choose develop only if you just want your negatives processed, add scanning for downloadable digital files, or add physical prints if you want hard copies in hand.

  • Processing Time

Our 120 film developing turnaround consistently outpaces industry standards, with Color C-41 film typically processed in 1 to 2 business days after arrival at our lab. This fast film developing turnaround means medium format shooters get their scans and prints back quickly, without the multi week waits common at many other film labs.

Black & White 120 film is hand processed rather than run through automated lines, which is why turnaround runs 1 to 5 business days. This hand processing approach gives our lab technicians direct control over development time, agitation, and chemistry temperature for each roll, a level of care that automated color processing lines cannot replicate.

FAQ

Does 120 film cost more to develop than 35mm?

Yes, 120 film developing costs $2 more than 35mm due to the larger negative size and handling requirements. Final cost also depends on whether you select develop only, scanning, or prints, along with resolution and any add ons chosen at checkout.

Can I develop 120 film without getting it scanned?

Yes. Develop only is available for customers who want their negatives processed without digital scans or prints.

How long does black & white 120 film take to process?

Black and white 120 typically takes 1 to 5 business days due to hand processing. Color C-41 typically processes in 1 to 2 business days. Shipping time is separate from these windows.

What if my 120 film turns out blank?

120 film that is completely blank after processing (i.e. no discernable exposures) will incur baseline develop-only charges of $9 for Color (C-41) and $15 for Black & White, since each roll requires time, chemistry, and labor. Additional service requests (scans/prints) for the related roll will be refunded.

Shipping will not be refunded on blank roll orders, your negatives will still be returned.

Do you develop expired 120 film?

Yes. We process both fresh and expired 120 rolls in Color (C-41) and Black & White. Expired film may show shifted color, increased grain, or reduced contrast depending on age and storage conditions, but it processes through the same chemistry as fresh rolls.
